Bakit alangan? Hindi naman vegetarian ’yon. At public service nga ’yon, makakatulong dagdagan ng cholesterol at salitre ang dugong dumadaloy papuntang puso n’ya. Kung meron man s’yang dugo, kung meron man s’yang puso.

Bakit alangan?

Pekeng presidente, pekeng asal presidente.

At pasabi-sabi pa ng “Annihilate the Abus!” Di ba noon pa n’ya ’yan pinangako?

PHILIPPINE'S NEWEST ANGEL: Corazon "Cory" Aquino

Im starting to believe that "you dont know what you have til its gone".
She was someone I thought would always be there for us physically
for this country, inspiring us all. but I have seen in her burial proved
that she even doubled the people she inspired(even the rest of the world)
through the life she livedand now that she is gone physically i do believe
that she will be forever with us in spirit. a champion of democracy and a
loving mother of this
beloved pinoy nation. you'll forever be in our hearts and im just happy that
now we have a new angel to guide us from up there. our angel tita cory.

Maraming salamat po sa inyong pamana at paalam.

R.I.P. Corazon Cojuangco Aquino

i was born on 1985.Where there was unrest ang great clamor for democracy im my beloved country, the philippines..The philippines became known for its people power.Peaceful and moving. It was those times that i had my first memories as a child..My 1st president then was the wife of the late ninoy aquino, corazon "cory" aquino. The democratic icon for the philippines and the world. She had served us well being a president..Late last year, madam cory aquino was diagnosed of colon cancer stage 4.Since then this nation pervently prayed for her recovery. But maybe, just maybe, the great God had better plans for her there in heaven. Our hero ninoy and madam cory are now reunited in heaven. We pray for her soul and ask for guidance from God for guidance of our country in the face of upcoming elections next year..May she rest in peace..

i am one with you in this sudden reality before us. this week, tetet was everywhere in the campus, i even had the chance to kid her about not using an umbrella while walking under the drizzle.

the KKP years have passed from me yet I know that face reminded me so much of the best years of my fpo stint in the nstp.. The circumstances are still ... Read Moreunclear to me. Yet the fact remains that she will no longer be going around campus, always wearing that face--just so determined, focused to finish what she has set herself to do.. i know she smiled alot, she was easy to be with, never a dull moment with her.. but underneath that sunny disposition is a deeper being.. and tetet showed that her happy exterior runs from her sincere efforts to live a life with meaning and extravagantly shared with others: whether family, friends or mere acquaintances..

yes, she may be gone.. but we remember her well and thank God that in His perfect time and will, we were blessed by Him thru her life..

“My Internship with XUCLA partner NGO Kaisahan”

see other internship pics here

This summer 2009 is a great summer for me. So far, the most fulfilling summer in my life. It was a good choice to join XUCLA. I was invited by Scintillian brothers for they are already XUCLA volunteers. I was a bit hesitant to join since we are in law school already and it would entail responsibilities. But then in the spirit of volunteerism I set aside those hesitations and continued to join and go through the process of becoming a XUCLA volunteer.

I was assigned to the Non-government organization KAISAHAN. With its full name KAISAHAN tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Kanayunan at Repormang Pansakahan. An NGO concerned with the issues and concerns of farmers particularly in the high lands and mainly affected by CARP (Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program). In my internship with KAISAHAN i was under ASDP (Area Specific Development Program). This division is the heart of KAISAHAN. It has a wide scope and a bigger responsibility and endures all the tasks the KAISAHAN had visioned itself when it started out.

The ASDP does all the community organizing of People’s Organizations. Going to barangays and communicating and integrating with the PO’s. Here in Northern Mindanao, the KAISAHAN ASDP office is in Alubijid for it is accesible to its area which is some barangays in El Salvador and Alubijid.

I am glad that I am assigned to KAISAHAN. Last sembreak, I also had my XUCLA exposure facilitated by KAISAHAN in one of its CARP cases in El Salvador where farmers were turned to scavengers because of a cancelation of their CLOA. It was a sad case. Even in their situation of scavenging, the worst thing still happened, they were told they cannot anymore sell the things they scavenged to the trucks that comes in in dump site. The (buying) trucks now are prohibited to enter the dump site and negotiate with the farmer-turned-scavengers. This particular story really strucks me up to now, even it was only my exposure to them that i had the oppurtunity to meet them and hear their stories. Because their problem up to now exist. I do pervently hope their situation would at least improve in terms of livelihood and a positive outcome of their CLOA case.

When I was assigned to KAISAHAN, i was glad because i knew already their personnels and the tasks that is expected of me—community organizing. But this time, i was hands on and not merely an expectator or observer as i was when i had my exposure.

We’ve gone to hinterland barangays in El Salvador and Alubjid to interview would be partners of KAISAHAN for its new area of 8 barangays. It has been almost 4 years since KAISAHAN started out in its area here in Northern Mindanao and it had 17 PO partners in 10 barangays.

I am a volunteer of various organizations when i was still in College. And i can say this summer experience with KAISAHAN and XUCLA is another worth keeping experience. New lessons learned and pondered on. Especially the NGO work which i can say is a heart-felt service for the marginalized sector.

This summer internship i can say had done its purpose of making me realize that aside from the mainstream lawyering which we all have thought one way or another of entering law school, there is one called alternative lawyering. I had heard of this only when we attended the Basic Orientation Seminar of XUCLA. I think it really was better to go through the internship process to really understand the concept of alternative lawyering rather than just a one seminar encounter with such.

The lessons ive learned in this summer internship is to be aware of the things that is happening around me especially those of that needed help most. To open my eyes to the realities outside the law classrooms. It was a good summerbreak and a very fulflling one too.

I would like to say thank you to my KAISAHAN homies(hehe!)—to Elgen,Ate Che,Ate Lang2x and Kuya Rey. Salamat sa inyo! My summer internship was indeed fun and educational. May our paths cross once again soon.

Let me end this reflection by saying a line from Mother Teresa of Calcutta: ” To show great love for God and our neighbor we need not do great things. It is how much love we put in the doing that makes our offering something beautiful for God.”

:the 2010 election craze:

i just watched the ANC Special Countdown to Election 2010(a replay shown on ABS-CBN Sunday Night-June 7,2009), where they presented in a forum presidentiables for the election slated less than a year from now--may 2010.this is the 2nd in a series of forums which aims to educate voters and to give us voters a chance to evaluate these presidentiables basically on their desire for the office and to see if that desire would ignite and inspire us to vote for them and to work that out for the progress of this country. i saw the 1st one where there were about 4 or 5 of these presidentiables who empted themselves not only to those their in the hall but to those most of us on the boob-tube. hmm,as far as i can remember, those that were present were chiz escudero ( whom i have my bias and bet on.hehe), secretary gilbert teodoro, mar roxas, father ed panlilio, and sen. manny villar(but im unsure as of the moment if he was there). i admit i was too lazy then to blog about all these craze for the coming election, but after seeing the 2nd one, i was inspired to do so, not only that i think i should but also a way to exercise my right of influencing others of my choice.hehe!
the 2nd part of said forum was attended by sen. legarda (whom i cant help but put on the same spectacle with hillary clinton in the U.S.), makati mayor binay, bayani fernando and would you believe former president estrada? yeah he was there. and i cant help but to put emphasis on this blog entry of the reality that he was indeed there, talking and all that. i mean, him? there? well anyways, that was my first impression upon turning the tv and having to found that the estranged erap had the guts of going there. but i was caught aback and at the same time appalled of the way he handled himself. im too shy to say this but i was impressed of erap. yeah, i was. the way he answered those questions and all, eventhough the crowd had episodic laughters while he was talking ( or maybe they thought he couldnt handle those questions) but at the end of his answers you cant hear any sound at all of mockery because i believe the crowd really was also impressed. one question that he well-answered was: what is it that is needed of a justice in the supreme court aside from competence? and he answered "integrity" with such an explanation that was well thought and well delivered and mind you ,it was in the english language which he jokingly said he had mastered so far.hehe! im not campaigning for him or anything like that. its just that as of now, i am willing to just let him run for the office of the president(which i think if ever he would run, he must have that pinoy record of running for the same office twice). i also believe he must be given that chance again for he did not really consumed or lets just say finished his term of office. but i guess its up to COMELEC and the Supreme Court being the last deciding court in the country to decide on the matter wether Mr. Erap is still qualified to run for President(again, for the 2nd time around). also, im commending Sen. Legarda the way she answered and presented herself.
but really as of now, i am eyeing on Sen. Escudero as the next President. young, fresh and has a good resume, he had served as a Representative and now as a Senator. and i think it is ripe-time for him to lead this country.

Nota Bene: i would like to stress the point that im just practicing what i have pledged in the AKOMISMO campaign, that i will blog for the good of this country and not to pull it down. anticipating for the next year's election here!weee!and i firmly believe their would be one--a national election, for us filipinos will not allow a no-election scenario! proud to be pinoy po!
